Travel Log of SWCY member, Don, Ellen and Tristan Freeman
aboard "Sirius Endeavor"
12/18/07
AA short Christmas/Seasons greeting from the crew of Sirius Endeavour: 2007 has been kind to us. We've had the good fortune to enjoy the pleasure of soft Caribbean breezes and the awesome majesty and solitude of Alaska in the same year. We can't do justice to either with words or pictures. It's the indelible memories we carry forward that give meaning to our lifestyle. For this we give thanks. Yes, the adventures have been grand, but at the root of our pleasure has always been our friends, which is for us our extended family. Cruising about in boats can be lonely, for the cruising lifestyle carries us far away. We always seem to be saying goodbye to someone, but then it also brings us back to another. Rendevous by land or sea are always the highlight of our travels. In Between, email is the glue that keeps us together.
Anchored off St. Ann, Martinique, we've been waiting for better weather to appear before traveling further up the chain. Despite the recent spate of wind and big seas, we've enjoyed the walks, beaches, swims and baguettes here. Tristan says this is definitely his favorite stop. Sirius Endeavour has been in the tropics 11 years now and she's been quietly asking for a bit of a re-fit. So we're considering our options. One is to sail her back to the states where getting work done is not as problematic as in the islands. But for now we're enjoying the islands, new friends and old, and hoping our paths on land and sea will cross yours.
Ellen, Tristan and I wish you a happy healthy and joyous holiday season and new year.
