 Hi Team SWYC,

July is just days away, so here’s what we have coming down the pipeline (get ready because this one’s a long one!).  As always, please let me know if you plan to attend any of these events so I can work out any necessary logistics.   Stay tuned for some movie nights on the lawn throughout the summer months.  Dates are TBD, but will be coming soon.

Tuesday, July 3 – Summer Series #3 at SWYC/SDYC (Sabot) The summer racing continues in La Playa.  First race is at 1:30 PM.  Registration is free, you just need to sign up online. Regatta info: https://www.regattatoolbox.com/eventDetails?eventID=R6r9ohVG4k

July 4th – No Sailing.  Enjoy times with friends and family whether it’s at home, away, or even down at the Club.  The Club has a number of activities planned for the day.

July 7-8 – Summer Gold Cup at NHYC (Sabot) One of the biggest regattas of the year.  NHYC puts on a great regatta and there are usually a lot of Sabots from all over, ready to compete.  Note the unique schedule for this regatta. Regatta info: http://www.scyyra.org/uploads/documents/2017/2018_Summer_Gold_Cup_NOR.pdf

July 8 – INSA Membership Due For any Sabot sailors who plan to race throughout the year, joining the INSA class is a requirement for some regattas and it helps support the Sabot class.  https://www.naples-sabot.org/membership/

Tuesday, July 10 – Sabot II South at Mission Bay YC (Sabot) This is the first step in the Sabot champs for those 11 and younger.  Those who finish in the top 10 will qualify for the Sabot II Championship at BCYC on July 18th.  This is a fun regatta to get some of the younger sailors a chance to sail in a championship without worrying about some of the older kids. Wednesday, July 11 – Summer Series #4 at SWYC/SDYC (Sabot) More summer racing in La Playa.  Following suit with the other La Playa Series, this is a free regatta with a 1:30 PM start. Regatta info: https://www.regattatoolbox.com/eventDetails?eventID=OvMXiuB75W

July 13-15 – Junior Olympic Festival at Mission Bay YC (CFJ, C420, 29er, Lasers, Bic) This regatta is close to home and will offer competition from around Southern California.  Sailing will occur out in the ocean, so a bit of a change of pace from the normal MBYC regatta. Regatta info: https://www.regattatoolbox.com/eventDetails?eventID=6QaGsKodlB

July 16-21 – Governor’s Cup at Balboa YC (Gov Cup 22s) A regatta to keep on the radar for the future.  This international junior match race regatta is a resume based event with only a few invites going out to US teams.  This is a very prestigious regatta with many past winners now quite famous in the world of sailing.

July 17-22 – US Junior Women’s Single-handed National Championship for the Leiter Trophy at Stamford YC (Radial) Another regatta to keep an eye on for the future.  This regatta moves around the country and is a great regatta for our up an coming girls to keep an eye on. July 21 – Single-handed Luff In and Joe Sabot Regatta at Coronado YC (Sabot, Lasers) The second installment of the 2018 SDAYC Luff In Series.  For those who sail in the Dutch Shoe, this is an easy regatta to sail as your Sabot will already be there.  These are lower key regattas with Clubs around San Diego participating.
